Cyberpunk 2077 FAQ — Common Questions Answered
Frequently asked questions about Cyberpunk 2077, covering gameplay mechanics, builds, cars, weapons, characters, quests, endings, and more.
What is the fastest car in Cyberpunk 2077?
The Rayfield Caliburn is the fastest car in Cyberpunk 2077, with a top speed of approximately 195–211 mph and around 1660 hp. Its free "Murkmobile" variant can be obtained after completing the Ghost Town quest and reaching Street Cred 40 — return to the Badlands tunnel/shipping container to pick it up. The Rayfield Aerondight "Guinevere" and Yaiba ARV-Q340 Semimaru (Update 2.3) are the next fastest hypercars. See the complete cars guide for the full tier list.
How do I get free cars in Cyberpunk 2077?
As of Update 2.3, roughly 27 vehicles can be obtained for free. The most valuable free cars are: Rayfield Caliburn "Murkmobile" (Ghost Town + Street Cred 40), Porsche 911 Turbo (Chippin' In quest), Quadra Turbo-R V-Tech (Sex on Wheels gig), Mizutani Shion "Coyote" (Queen of the Highway — Panam quests), and Rayfield Caliburn "Mordred" (Beast in Me + Transmission + Search and Destroy chain). Three free cars are weaponized: Quadra Type-66 "Hoon", Herrera Outlaw "Weiler" (Phantom Liberty), and Caliburn "Mordred". Full list in the cars guide.
What is the best build in Cyberpunk 2077?
The best build depends on your playstyle. The Sandevistan Samurai (Blades) build is the most popular — Reflexes 20 / Technical Ability 20 / Body 15-20, using Militech Apogee Sandevistan + iconic katanas for extreme melee burst DPS. The Netrunner build (Intelligence 20) lets you defeat entire rooms without drawing weapons using quickhacks like Contagion and Memory Wipe. The Gunslinger build (Cool 20) excels at one-shot headshots with revolvers. All builds are viable after the 2.0 rework, and you can freely respec Perks outside combat. See the complete builds guide for detailed progression.
What is the best Sandevistan in Cyberpunk 2077?
The Militech "Apogee" Sandevistan (Iconic Tier 5) is widely regarded as the strongest Operating System cyberware in the game. It slows time by 85%, increases headshot damage, crit chance and crit damage, and kills while active extend duration and restore stamina. Available at Level 40+ from any Ripperdoc for approximately €$118,000. Early-game progression: start with Dynalar or Zetatech → move to Falcon around level 30 → Apogee at level 40+.
Do I need Phantom Liberty to enjoy Cyberpunk 2077?
No. The base game with the free Update 2.0 is a complete experience with a fully overhauled skill tree, new vehicle combat mechanics, improved police AI and a redesigned perk system. Phantom Liberty adds the new Dogtown district, additional story missions, exclusive weaponized vehicles (like the Herrera Outlaw "Weiler") and new cyberware options, but it is an expansion — not required to enjoy the main game.
Can I respec my character in Cyberpunk 2077?
Yes. After Update 2.0, Perks can be refunded freely outside combat at any time. Attributes can also be reset, though this is more limited. This means no build choice is permanent — experiment early and often. The official Build Planner at cyberpunk.net/en/build-planner lets you plan attribute and perk distributions before committing in-game.
How many free vehicles are there in Cyberpunk 2077?
As of Update 2.3, approximately 27 vehicles can be obtained for free through story quests, side jobs, hidden locations and Fixer rewards. This includes some of the most powerful cars in the game — the Rayfield Caliburn "Murkmobile" (fastest car), Porsche 911 Turbo (Johnny Silverhand's car), Quadra Turbo-R V-Tech (iconic trailer car), and multiple weaponized vehicles. You do not need to spend eddies to build a top-tier garage.
What is CrystalCoat in Cyberpunk 2077?
CrystalCoat is a vehicle customization system introduced in Update 2.2. It lets you dynamically change paint colors on your vehicles — headlights, body, accent colors and more. It can also help lower police wanted level by changing your vehicle's appearance mid-chase. Originally limited to Rayfield cars, it was expanded to most vehicles in later updates. TwinTone (also 2.2) lets you scan other vehicles on the road and copy their paint schemes.
What is the max level in Cyberpunk 2077?
The level cap is 50 in the base game and 60 with the Phantom Liberty expansion installed. Reaching level 60 gives you enough attribute points to comfortably max three of the five attributes with a few points left over, so expansion characters end up noticeably stronger. Street Cred tracks separately and caps at 50 — it unlocks fixer gigs and better vendor stock rather than raw character power. Beyond the cap, progression shifts to finding better gear and finishing skill ranks.
How do I reset my attribute points in Cyberpunk 2077?
Open the Character menu and use the "Reset Attributes" button in the bottom-left corner. It is free, but you can only do it once per playthrough — the game warns you before committing, so keep a backup save if you want to experiment. This is separate from perks: individual perk points refund at no cost anytime you are out of combat, and there is no limit on how often you redo them.
What is Cyberware Capacity and how do I increase it?
Cyberware Capacity is the budget that limits how much chrome you can install at a Ripperdoc after Update 2.0. It grows as you level (201 capacity at level 60 before bonuses) and scales with Technical Ability, which is why nearly every build invests in it. Two Technical Ability perks push it further: Renaissance Punk grants +4 capacity for each attribute at 9 or higher, and Edgerunner lets you exceed your cap by up to 50 points at the cost of 0.5% max health per point exceeded. Random Cyberware Capacity shards found while exploring add a little more on top.
How does crafting work in Cyberpunk 2077 after Update 2.0?
Update 2.0 slimmed crafting down. Regular loot now scales with your level, so common weapons are replaced instead of upgraded — only Iconic weapons can be upgraded, in the Upgrades tab of the Crafting menu, using tier-matched components from disassembling items. Picking up an Iconic automatically unlocks its crafting spec for the next tier, up to Legendary, and more specs drop from bosses in Suspected Organized Crime Activities or are sold by weapon vendors. Cyberware is upgraded at Ripperdocs with components. Crafting no longer requires Technical Ability, so every build can use it.
Who can you romance in Cyberpunk 2077?
Four full romances: Judy Alvarez (feminine body and voice), Panam Palmer (masculine body), River Ward (feminine body) and Kerry Eurodyne (masculine body and voice). Body and voice are set in character creation and cannot be changed, so choose accordingly if a specific romance matters to you. Each one requires finishing that character's personal questline and taking the flirt options at key moments — Judy's arc culminates in Pyramid Song, Panam's in Queen of the Highway. Meredith Stout offers a one-off fling for any V, and Phantom Liberty adds no new romances.
What is the best way to make money in Cyberpunk 2077?
Sell every weapon you loot. Since Update 2.0, vendors and drop points carry far more cash than at launch, so a full inventory of looted guns nets anywhere from €$20,000 to €$100,000 depending on rarity and story progress. Run NCPD scanner hustles, fixer gigs and Suspected Organized Crime Activities to generate loot, then sell at a drop point. Dismantle clothes rather than selling them (they stay in your wardrobe), and pick up Phantom Liberty airdrops for extra valuables. Played this way, money stops being a constraint mid-game.
How long is Cyberpunk 2077?
Expect roughly 25–30 hours for the main story, around 60 hours mixing in side jobs and gigs, and 100+ hours for a completionist run covering every quest, gig, collectible and romance. Phantom Liberty adds another 15–25 hours of main story. The opening act through The Heist takes most players 4–6 hours before the whole city opens up. There is no time pressure — side content stays available until Nocturne Op55N1, the point of no return before the finale.
How many endings does Cyberpunk 2077 have?
Seven across the base game and expansion: five base endings (The Devil, The Star, The Sun, Temperance and a tragic suicide option), the hidden "Don't Fear the Reaper" secret ending — unlocked through supportive Chippin' In dialogue and high Johnny affinity — and The Tower, added by Phantom Liberty, which requires finishing the expansion with both Reed and Songbird alive. Which ones you can reach depends on the ally questlines you completed and who you call on the rooftop during Nocturne Op55N1. The full breakdown is in the all endings guide.
Can you keep playing after beating Cyberpunk 2077?
Yes. After the credits roll (except the suicide ending), the game returns you to just before Nocturne Op55N1 with any ending-specific rewards, so you can finish remaining side jobs, gigs, romances and collectibles — or replay the finale for a different ending from that save. If you are chasing 100% completion, do side content before the point of no return; the epilogue itself is the only thing locked in once an ending plays out.
Does Cyberpunk 2077 have New Game Plus?
No. Cyberpunk 2077 has never received a New Game Plus mode, and CD Projekt Red's quest designers have explained why: carrying high-level characters, perks and cyberware into a fresh story would break the game's structure and balance. Replaying means starting a new character. The practical substitutes are a different lifepath, a completely different build (perks respec freely), another romance, and the endings you have not seen yet.
Does V die at the end of Cyberpunk 2077?
It depends entirely on the ending — there is no single canonical fate for V. Without spoiling specifics: some endings leave V's survival uncertain but hopeful, others trade V's future for Johnny's, and the Phantom Liberty Tower ending is the only one where V is definitively cured. Your choices in the final act and the allies you side with decide the outcome, so treat the last conversation on Misty's rooftop as the real decision point. Full spoiler details are in the endings guide.
How do I start Phantom Liberty in Cyberpunk 2077?
Two ways. On an existing character, play the main story until you finish Transmission (the Voodoo Boys job in Act 2) — Songbird then contacts V, starting Dog Eat Dog and pointing you to Dogtown. On a fresh install, choose the Skip Ahead option from the main menu to jump straight into the expansion with a leveled preset character you can keep playing afterwards. The recommended entry point through the normal path is around level 15–20+. See the Phantom Liberty guide for the full walkthrough.
How many endings does Phantom Liberty have?
Four, commonly named after Tarot cards: King of Wands, King of Swords, King of Cups and King of Pentacles. The branch point is the Firestarter mission, where you either help Songbird escape or help Reed capture her; later choices in The Killing Moon or Somewhat Damaged determine the exact outcome. King of Swords and King of Pentacles — the two where both Reed and Songbird survive — also unlock The Tower, a new ending for the base game. Save before Firestarter if you want to see several without replaying everything.
What is the Relic tree in Phantom Liberty and how do I get Relic points?
The Relic tree is a bonus skill tree added by Phantom Liberty, unlocked as you first enter Dogtown. It does not level with ordinary XP — you collect Relic points from story progress and exploration. Songbird gives you three points at the start of the expansion and three more during Birds With Broken Wings, and the remaining nine come from Militech data terminals hidden around Dogtown. Watch for flashing yellow terminals, or toggle the Exploration filter on the map to reveal their icons. Fifteen points total unlock the whole tree.
Do I need to watch Cyberpunk: Edgerunners before playing Cyberpunk 2077?
No. The game and the anime each stand on their own — Edgerunners is set roughly a year before V's story and follows a different cast, so no main-plot knowledge assumes you have watched it. That said, Night City is full of tributes you will only recognize as a viewer: memorial plaques for the crew, David's jacket, Rebecca's shotgun and nods to the show's Sandevistan. Watching it first adds emotional context, never required knowledge. More in the Edgerunners guide.
How do I get David Martinez's jacket in Cyberpunk 2077?
Go to Megabuilding H4 in Arroyo, Santo Domingo (content added in the 1.6 Edgerunners update). In the alley beside the entrance you will find a green graffiti tag from the anime and a braindance harness in a nearby trash can — play the braindance to trigger the Over the Edge side job. Call your fixer Reyes (El Capitan) and ask about David Martinez, wait a few days for the follow-up text, then meet Reyes at the marked waypoint; the jacket sits in a crate behind him. No combat required.
Where do you find Rebecca's shotgun in Cyberpunk 2077?
Rebecca's iconic shotgun, Guts, lies hidden in a bush in Memorial Park outside Arasaka Tower in Corpo Plaza (City Center). Climb to the rooftop garden level with the trees, hedges and giant holographic fish, then find the three kneeling monks on the south-western side — Guts is in the foliage near them. There is no quest attached and no fight to win; you can grab it whenever the district is open and it hits hard for its level.
Are Cyberpunk 2077 mods safe to use?
Yes, with basic precautions — and there are no bans to worry about, since the game is single-player and CDPR does not police mod use. Stick to Nexus Mods and the official REDmod framework, match mods to your game version (core frameworks break after each patch until their authors update them), and back up saves before installing anything. The rules that matter: mods are PC only, uninstalling mods mid-save can corrupt that save, and some mods interact with achievements. The recommended setup — Vortex plus Cyber Engine Tweaks, redscript and RED4ext — is covered in the mods guide.
Is Cyberpunk 2077 on Nintendo Switch 2?
Yes. Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition launched alongside the Nintendo Switch 2 on June 5, 2025 — the series' first appearance on a Nintendo platform. The 64 GB game card holds the complete base game plus Phantom Liberty with no large mandatory download. Quality mode targets 30 fps and Performance mode 40 fps docked, with Nvidia DLSS-style upscaling, and the Joy-Con 2 mouse controls are a surprisingly good way to aim. See the Switch 2 guide for the full performance breakdown.
What is the difference between Cyberpunk 2077 Ultimate Edition and the standard game?
Ultimate Edition bundles the base game with the Phantom Liberty expansion plus every free update and DLC in one package. It launched December 5, 2023 for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S at $59.99 — cheaper than adding the separately sold expansion (around $29.99) to a base-game purchase. Two caveats: Phantom Liberty does not exist on PS4, so last-gen players are limited to the base game, and PC/PS5 physical boxes ship the expansion as a download code. The Switch 2 Ultimate Edition ($69.99, June 2025) is the one that puts everything on the cartridge.
Where are Cyberpunk 2077 save files located on PC?
On Windows, saves live in the Cyberpunk 2077 folder inside Saved Games within your user directory — typically C:\Users\[username]\Saved Games\CD Projekt Red\Cyberpunk 2077. Each save is a separate folder of .sav files (ManualSave, QuickSave, AutoSave and numbered slots). Copying the whole folder elsewhere is a complete backup — do it before major patches, mod installs, or the one-time attribute reset. Steam, GOG and Epic installs all use this same location.
Can I transfer my Cyberpunk 2077 save between PC, PlayStation, Xbox and Switch 2?
Yes — the game has built-in cross-progression. Open the Load Game menu and use the Cross Progression prompt (or Settings → Gameplay → Enable cross-platform Saves) to link a CD Projekt Red account; once connected, your latest saves upload to the cloud automatically and get a cloud icon. Sign into the same account on another platform and those saves appear in the Load Game menu — the newest save of each type (manual, quick, auto) is synced. This also carries PS4 saves up to a PS5.
